About TangoXray

An independent amateur-radio publication and experimental lab

TangoXray is an independent amateur-radio publication and experimental lab for the software-defined age.

We cover radio from both sides of the antenna: traditional RF knowledge and the increasingly software-defined tools used to receive, understand and experiment with signals.

That includes antennas and propagation, but also SDR, DSP, digital modes, satellites, software, signal analysis and real-world experimentation.

Who's behind it

TangoXray was founded and is edited by Vladimir Lelicanin, YU4VLR.

Vladimir is a software architect, educator and licensed amateur radio operator with a particular interest in SDR, DSP, RF experimentation and software for radio.

TangoXray is intentionally built at the intersection of amateur-radio culture and modern software engineering.

How we work

TangoXray uses a research and publishing system called Olympus.

Olympus helps monitor sources, organize research, prepare drafts, produce translations and adapt material for different formats.

It does not replace editorial responsibility.

Technical material is reviewed by a human before publication. A draft cannot go live until an editor approves it.

Articles distinguish three kinds of evidence: what a source reports, what TangoXray checked at the desk (opening the software, reading the code or the filing), and what TangoXray measured. Measurement claims appear only when a human did the measuring.

AI-generated statements are never treated as sources.

Commercial disclosure

TangoXray also develops RX, commercial radio software.

Because TangoXray publishes material about some of the same problems RX is designed to solve, this relationship matters.

When editorial material features, tests or compares RX, that relationship should be clearly disclosed.

RX must not determine editorial conclusions or experimental results.

Corrections

Radio is technical, experiments fail and we will occasionally get things wrong.

When a factual or technical error materially affects an article, TangoXray corrects it and leaves a visible correction note explaining what changed.
